Indago

Indago

Founder, AI research platform for Japanese equities (seed round soon)

Why is so much of Japan’s stock market mispriced? Indago uses LLMs and massive financial datasets to find the gaps.

It is already in beta with users at financial institutions.

Chronus Capital · Tokyo

Developer, activist equity fund (raising $80M)

Designed and deployed the fund’s automated activist-intelligence system. It runs a daily full-market scan of Japan’s EDINET disclosure database and uses an LLM pipeline to parse 5% ownership filings from ~40 activist and institutional funds.

When a stake builds, a position changes, or a campaign starts, it alerts the investment team, often before the market reacts. I also built quantitative screens to surface mispriced targets across Japanese equities.

Contra

Jan 2022 – Present

Contra

I started trading by arbitraging Pokémon cards with about $2,000. That market was too opaque and illiquid to scale, so I moved into larger, more open markets and grew the account to over $250,000.

That became Contra, where I trade on macro and micro factors using algorithmic tools. I’m currently positioned heavily short. Contra manages my own capital alongside family and friends’ capital. More at contra.llc.

Pokémon Card Arbitrage

I noticed that Japanese collectors pay a premium for English-graded Pokémon cards. So I wrote algorithms that scanned US auctions for underpriced graded cards and bought them automatically on Goldin Auctions. Then I resold them in Japan for the difference.

It was cross-border arbitrage, fully automated, and it grew into a $50K portfolio.

About

2007 – still alive

Hi, I’m Mischa 👋

I build things, usually because a question won’t leave me alone.

In early high school, the question was “Can a computer spot skin melanoma?” So I trained a CNN to find out.

Today, the question is “Why is so much of Japan’s stock market mispriced?” So I’m building Indago, an AI research platform that uses LLMs and massive financial datasets to find the gaps. We have beta users at financial institutions and are raising our seed round soon.

I’ve been hunting market inefficiencies since 7th grade. Back then, I bought drinks in the US and resold them in Europe. At 13, I started trading with $2K. That account is now over $250K.

I’m an international student who’s lived in five countries, including time with the Maasai in Kenya. I think the best way to understand something is to go live inside it. ;)

Grassroots Economics · Kenya

Internship, community-currency nonprofit (5,000 users)

Grassroots Economics is a Kenyan nonprofit that helps villages trade using local vouchers instead of the Kenyan shilling, which swings a lot in value. The vouchers work over text message on basic phones.

I helped bring the system to a few villages. I met with village chiefs, went to the markets, and taught people how to make and trade their own vouchers. We tracked 5,000 users and 270,000 transactions.
